Who We Are
Peace was organized on May 15, 1959, by the Reverend Irvin S. Moxley. The first worship service of the the Mission of Peace was held on July 26,1959, in the gymnasium of the of Newburg Elementary School. The parishioners included community families who had been invited in a door-to-door campaign.
Today Peace prides itself on being in the forefront of providing worship experiences that address and portray the rich African-American cultures, while not excluding anyone. Peace continuously celebrates the contributions of African-Americans and works to instill a positive image of all persons who fellowship with us, as created in the image a God. We emphasize the teaching of responsibility to God, self, family and the larger community.
